At the company's 42nd annual general meeting for shareholders, Reliance Industries chief Mukesh Ambani unleashed disruption in the country's telecom industry. Reliance Industries' $20-billion telecom juggernaut, Jio, is finally set to roll out.

The company's plans to offer free voice calls with zero roaming charges to all its customers is sure to change the very face of India's telecom industry.

At the AGM, the country's richest man has set a target of the company achieving 100 million customers in the shortest possible time and set a record as it builds out 4G network across the country.

Here's what Reliance Jio's ambitious foray into the wireless mobile sector offers to the customers.

Starting Monday, September 5, Jio's entire bouquet of apps and services (including data and voice) will be available for absolutely free to everyone in the country.

The introductory, or 'welcome offer' as Mukesh Ambani termed it, runs till December 31, 2016.

Reliance Jio has promised that there will be no 'blackout days.' This means even on occasions like Diwali, Holi, New Year and others when volume is high, free SMS offers will be applicable.
