Google is today celebrating the 94th birth anniversary of India's Milkman -- Verghese Kurien.
The doodle shows Kurien with a milk can in his hand, next to a buffalo with a looped rope on the ground spelling out 'Google'.
Born on November 26 1921, in Calicut, Kerala, Kurien graduated in Physics from Loyola College, Madras, in 1940 and then went on to College of Engineering, Guindy, to do his Bachelors in Mechanical engineering.
Also known as the "Father of the White Revolution", Kurien made India the world's largest milk producer in 1998 beating US. National Milk Day is also been observed today in his memory. The initiative has been taken by all major dairy associations and cooperatives across the country.
Kurien was the founding chairman of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) and is credited of making Amul a global dairy brand. He founded 30 institutions of excellence including IRMA and NDDB.
Kurien died on September 9 2012, at the age of 90.
