Samsung has released the premium 18K rose gold and platinum versions of
its Gear S2 smartwatch in China. The company said the launch of the
premium editions of the smartwatch in other markets will follow soon.
The new Gear S2 18K Rose Gold edition features rose gold plating (18K) and is sold with an Ivory Genuine Leather Band, while the Platinum version showcases platinum finishes with a Black Genuine Leather Band, the company said in a statement.
Other than the use of premium materials, the new variants of Samsung Gear S2 are identical to the original model, which was unveiled last year.
Samsung Gear S2 features a 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED display with 360x360 pixels resolution. Powering the smartwatch is a dual-core Exynos processor clocked at 1GHz, coupled with 512MB of RAM. The internal storage of the smartwatch stands at 4GB and it is based on Tizen wearable platform of the company.
The Gear S2 smartwatch comes with an IP67 rating that makes it dust and water resistant. It also comes with a heart rate sensor which monitors the heart rate of the user. Its connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC and houses a 250mAh battery.
