WhatsApp to stop working on Nokia Symbian devices from December 31

Facebook-owned WhatsApp has finally announced the exact end-of-life date for its Symbian app. WhatsApp will stop working on Symbian devices after December 31, as per a report by All About Symbian website.

In February, WhatsApp announced that it would be no longer supporting devices running Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, Android 2.1 and 2.2, Windows Phone 7 operating systems along with BlackBerry devices.

WhatsApp is reportedly working on GIF support. According to a report by The Next Web website, citing @WABetaInfo's recent tweet (a Twitter account that keeps track of the latest WhatsApp beta updates), the latest iOS beta version 2.16.7.1 of the WhatsApp has support to autoplay GIFs. The report further suggested that users will also be able to embed GIFs directly into their chats.

WhatsApp recently announced the availability of its apps on PCs running Windows 8 and above, and Macs running OS X 10.9 and above. Similar to 'WhatsApp Web,' the desktop app is synced to WhatsApp on a user's' mobile device.

The app can run natively on desktops and includes support for native desktop notifications, keyboard shortcuts, and more.
