Sebi may allow MF distribution via e-commerce

To boost penetration of mutual funds across India, Sebi is planning to use the e-commerce platforms for distribution of mutual fund schemes. Also, to bring in better disclosure in the ratings industry, the markets regulator is working on some changes to current rules for rating agencies. A committee under Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani is working to look at how e-commerce platforms could be used to sell mutual fund schemes and it is expected to submit its report soon, Sebi chief U K Sinha said. Press Information Bureau to soon launch app for journalists

The Press Information Bureau will soon launch a mobile application to send notifications to journalists, refurbish its website for better social media integration and follow a more proactive information policy on Facebook and Twitter. A special session was organized for PIB spokespersons last week where Facebook officials briefed them on how to disburse information using the world's largest social networking site. PIB joined Facebook recently, after having been on micro-blogging site Twitter for a while. "We have got over 31,000 likes on Facebook within two months. The idea is to use Facebook in a much better way to reach out to journalists and people.
