Windows really needs a "I'm on battery power, shut down immediately and skip all updates."

Pop quiz, your windows machine just downloaded a new update and has it scheduled to be installed off-hours. Before that though, lightning strikes your house and knocks out the power. Luckily you were smart enough to have battery backups, so all is not lost yet. Only one obstacle, windows will not allow you to shutdown the machine without performing an update.

Do you

A) Close all applications, save all documents, and allow the machine to take a hard shutdown, risking hard drive failure.

B) Proceed with the windows update, and risk it not being complete before your battery runs out of power, thereby corrupting your system.

C) Put your system into a sleep mode and hope you can acquire a generator in time to recover the system.
